André Carson, Representative from Indiana's 7th District

André Carson (Democratic Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Indiana's 7th Congressional District. He assumed office on March 13, 2008. His current term ends on January 3, 2025.

Carson (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent Indiana's 7th Congressional District. He declared candidacy for the 2024 election.

Carson won re-election in 2018 with 64.9 percent of the vote.

Carson was the second Muslim ever elected to the U.S. Congress. The previous holder of Indiana's 7th Congressional District seat, Julia Carson, was his grandmother.

Prior to serving in the U.S. Congress, Carson worked in law enforcement. He also served on the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008.

Carson was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice management from Concordia University-Wisconsin and a master's in business management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
