Chris Stewart, Representative from Utah's 2nd District

Chris Stewart (Republican Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Utah's 2nd Congressional District. He assumed office on January 3, 2013. His current term ends on January 3, 2025.

Stewart (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the U.S. House to represent Utah's 2nd Congressional District. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Stewart announced he plans to resign from the House on September 15, 2023.

Stewart was re-elected to his fourth term in November 2018 with 56 percent of the vote after being selected as the Republican candidate in a nominating convention on April 12, 2018. He was first elected to the office in November 2012.

Stewart has served on the Committee on Appropriations and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He is also the owner of the Shipley Group, an environmental law consultation company.

Stewart was raised with his nine brothers and sisters on a dairy farm in Idaho. He graduated from Sky View High School. He took a hiatus from college at Utah State University to work as a Mormon missionary in Texas before graduating in 1984 with a bachelor's degree in economics. Stewart served in the U.S. Air Force from 1984 to 1998. He then became a small-business owner and author of several books. He co-authored Elizabeth Smart's memoir, My Story, which was published in October 2013.
