Debbie Stabenow, Senator from Michigan's 8th District

Debbie Stabenow (Democratic Party) is a member of the U.S. Senate from Michigan. She assumed office on January 3, 2001. Her current term ends on January 3, 2025.

She served as chair of the Senate Agriculture Committee from 2011 to 2015 and became chair of the Senate Democratic Policy Committee in 2017.

Stabenow was born in 1950 in Gladwin, MI, and attended high school in Clare, MI. She earned both her B.A. and her M.S.W. from Michigan State University in 1972 and 1975, respectively. Stabenow has also worked as a social worker.
