Donald Norcross, Representative from New Jersey's 1st District

Donald Norcross (Democratic Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing New Jersey's 1st Congressional District. He assumed office on November 12, 2014. His current term ends on January 3, 2025.

Norcross (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the U.S. House to represent New Jersey's 1st Congressional District. He declared candidacy for the 2024 election.

Norcross was first elected to the U.S. House in a November 2014 special election to replace incumbent Rob Andrews (D), who resigned in February 2014, for the final months of the 113th Congress. On the same day, Norcross won a concurrent regularly-scheduled election for a full term in the 114th Congress.

Before his election to the House, Norcross was a Democratic member of the New Jersey Senate, representing District 5. He was appointed to the Senate on January 19, 2010, after representing District 5 of the New Jersey General Assembly for one week before being chosen to fill the Senate seat vacated by Dana Redd (D). During his time in the state Senate, Norcross was an assistant majority leader and served as chairman of the Law and Public Safety Committee.

Prior to serving as an elected official, Norcross was active in southern New Jersey labor unions, serving as the assistant business manager of Local 251 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and president of the Southern New Jersey AFL-CIO.

Norcross attended Camden County College. His professional experience includes working as an electrical apprentice and as the assistant business manager of Local 251 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He served as president of the Southern New Jersey AFL-CIO.
