He ran against Karen Handel (R) in the 2017 special election to represent Georgia's 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House. That race went to a runoff, where he lost 48% to 52%. It was the most expensive House race in U.S. history as of that time. Ossoff raised more than $23 million.

Jon Ossoff was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Ossoff earned a bachelor's degree from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 2009 and a master's degree from the London School of Economics in 2013. His career experience includes working as the managing director and CEO of the filmmaking company Insights TWI and a deputy communications chief, campaign manager, senior legislative assistant, and legislative correspondent to U.S. House Representative Hank Johnson.
