Founded in 1966 as North Sumatra Offshore Petroleum Exploration Co., INPEX expanded through international oil and gas investments and merged with Teikoku Oil Co. in 2008. In addition to its conventional energy operations, the company is developing renewable power, hydrogen and carbon capture and storage initiatives as part of its effort to support the energy transition. INPEX is headquartered in Tokyo and is led by Representative Director, President and CEO Takayuki Ueda.
