The company also invests in lower-carbon businesses and technologies, including renewable fuels, carbon capture and storage, hydrogen and other opportunities intended to reduce emissions from its operations and energy products. Chevron serves customers in markets around the world, with major exploration, production, refining, marketing and trading activities across the Americas, Australia, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Chevron traces its history to the Pacific Coast Oil Company, founded in California in 1879, and became Chevron Corporation following the 1984 merger of Standard Oil of California and Gulf Oil. Mike Wirth serves as chairman and chief executive officer.
